After the exam · Step 8 of 9

Make it count

Your certification is a beginning, not an end.

No certification, however prestigious, will boost your employability or set you apart in a competitive job market if no one knows you hold it, or understands what it means. The value of your certification depends on how visibly and how professionally you use it. This step is yours to take, and it starts the day you are certified.

1. Use your designation correctly

Your designation is a professional title. Use it consistently and in the right form:

After your name: Jane Doe, CRMS

In full, at least once: Certified Risk Mapping Specialist (CRMS) — GECB

Always verifiable: add your verification link wherever possible.

Never alter the acronym, never use it without the full title, and never suggest that GECB endorses your employer. A GECB certification qualifies you as an individual, not the organization you work for.

2. Make it visible everywhere you work

  • LinkedIn headline: Risk Manager | Certified Risk Mapping Specialist (CRMS) | GRC
  • LinkedIn “Licenses & Certifications”: Full title, issuing organization, credential ID and Verification link
  • CV / Resume: Designation after your name at the top, and a dedicated “Certifications” section with the verification link
  • Email signature: Jane Doe, CRMS, the full title and a “Verify my credential” link
  • Business card: Designation after your name, full title under your job title, and optionally a QR code to your credential
  • Reports and proposals: Prepared by Jane Doe, CRMS, in line with your employer’s policy

3. Turn your certification into demonstrated skills

Employers are not looking for an acronym; they are looking for what you can do. Under your certification, list the concrete skills it validates, and show in your work experience how you apply them, for example:

“Led the update of the enterprise risk map using a structured, decision-oriented methodology.”

4. Follow the LinkedIn activation plan

  1. Day 1

    Update your profile

Headline, Licenses & Certifications with your verification link, and an About section that explains what your certification brings to your role.

  2. Day 2

    Announce it

Use Share Credential on Accredible to publish your announcement and tag @GECB.

  3. Weeks 1 to 4

    Build authority

Publish a post sharing a lesson from your field, and add your badge to your Featured section.

  4. Month 1

    Inform your network

Let your manager, your committees, HR and your professional partners know, and offer to share what you have learned.

  5. Ongoing

Make it part of your identity

Use your designation in your comments, articles, talks and speaker bios.
